How to Convert Words Expressions into Algebraic Expressions.


Step 1. Understand the word problem. Reading comprehension is very important at this stage.

Step 2. Identify all unknown values, and assign them a variable name. Use the Let Statement.

Step 3. Look for known relationships between the known and the unknown values. Example:  x+6 = 100.

Step 4. Use algebra rules solve for the unknown value(s), if possible.

Step 5. Check/Verify your solution is correct.

Step 5. Summary your solution with a written sentence.
